Note: There are too many product Myths and Misleading Claims that SII hopes to address in this section. All SII information is backed by actual product application and engineering facts, not sales propaganda. SII apologizes if we provide you with lengthy answers designed to educate, inform, and explain important facts we believe need consideration.
Q. - Why do Pets seem to always pull the screw-in-the-ground tie-outs out of the ground?
A. – Screw-in-the-Ground tie-outs are esentially augers. An auger is used to dig a hole in the ground. Typically for fence posts. As the screw shaped anchor is inserted in the ground, it actually softens and tills the soil as it penetrates. Thus, when a pet is tied to the tie-out, it doesn’t require much force to pull it out of the ground. The longer the screw anchor is, the harder it is to install it properly, thus, the manufactuer will typically state the customer didn’t install the product correctly.. Shorter screw type anchors tale less effort to pull them out.
The patented Stayk product design is much like hammering a nail in wood. The mallinial years of settling soil is packed around the Anchor Rod developing a high coefficient of friction. If loose or muddy soil from rain, IF the soil starts to loose its grip, simply relocate the Stayk 2′-3′ over, your done.
Q. - What are the proper Installation and Removal Instroctions and Processes?
A. – INSTALLATION: A two pound (2 lb.) hammer is typically all that is required to install or remove the Stayk® and Pro Stayk® from the soil unless a unusual soil or condition such as frozen tundra, etc. is encountered. Although each product will accommodate these extreme conditions, a larger hammer may be required in these situations. Hammer the Stayk or Pro Stayk into the soil until the lower “Reference Washer” is level with the solid soil. After installation, turn the Rotation Block and Rotation Sleeve to assure they turn virtually effortlessly. The same instructions apply to the “Ground Sleeve” accessory.
REMOVAL: Prior to removal, use the hammer to tap on the Anchor Rod sides to vibrate and loosen the soil. The excellent patented engineered product holding ability may require several attempts to easily remove the product depending on the soil condition.
CAUTION: Acquire removal assistance if any personal health condition exists. Only use a straight up (vertical) lifting force to remove the product from the soil.
Q. - What does "Tangle Free" mean?
A. – (AI overview) When used in the context of tethering, “tangle-free” means the tether, cable, or line is designed or set up in a way that prevents it from becoming twisted, knotted, or caught around objects, people, or animals.
The goal of a tangle-free system is to ensure the connected item can move freely to the full extent of its range without the line shortening, kinking, or creating a hazardous situation.
The patented Stayk® Tether & Anchor System multiple functions prevent all the AI overview issues when properly used. Other products claiming “Tangle Free” is typically only achieved if the animal keeps the tether constantly at full length, preventing slack to bunch around the anchor and connection. The most effective style tether to avoid tangling with these product types is cable. Another patented Stayk® function besides being totally portable, is the simple tether connection for any style tether (i.e. Chain, Rope, Retractable Leash, etc.) and tether length adjustment to accommodate your location and application needs. A feature NOT capable on other tie-out or anchor products. Also see Tangle Issues.
Q. - What "Tangle Issues" do I need to consider?
A. – No matter which tether style you choose (i.e. Chain, Rope, Retractable Leash, etc.) it is eatremely important to NEVER LEAVE ANY ANIMAL UNATTENDED, EVER. Always remove twigs, pine straw, pine cones, limbs, trash, debris, any object from the animal and tether travel area. Any of these objects and others can fall or blow into the animals travel area causing a tangle hazard.
Virtually any object can tangle the tether itself, which can prevent the animal from reaching the water bowl and fatally dehydrating the animal. Also most devastating is the tether getting tangled and then become tangled around the tie-out anchor to the point of strangling the animal of life. A tangled tether is an issue of it’s own. The most preventative method to prevent a tangle situation of the tether, the tether anchor, or around the animal itself is to insert the tether through a piece of old garden hose the length of the tether. This will require custom making the tether itself by attaching the final clasp or connection after inserting the tether through the hose. This method is extremely important when tethering Horses, to prevent the tether from wrapping around their hoof or leg.
Q. - What is the best or which Tether should I use?
A. – The best choice of tether is to experiment with different styles and lengths to determine the most successful long term options for simplicity and enjoyment with your pet and application. Virtually all pet tie-outs will tangle with any style tether other than a cable. Another Patented Stayk® product feature accommodates ANY style or custom tether desired or needed for your pet size and physical ability. Sometimes a couple individual lengths are the simplest way with the patented Stayk® attachment feature. SII encourages all the freedom and exercise possible for your pet, therefore, it’s worth the time and effort to experiment. Determine the longest and best size/weight tether your pet or animal can unwind when it is fully wrapped around the Stayk® anchor. Wrap the tether around The Stayk® and, without encouragement, see if your pet will naturally walk around and unwind the tether on their own. If not, then practice encouraging them different ways to walk around until they naturally enjoy doing it on their own. The smallest resistance encountered will provide exercise and assure your pet is strong enough to unwind the tether to reach its food, water, and or shade.
If a lightweight chain or rope is chosen, the patented U-bolt feature allows excess chain (short sections of chain) to be attached to the U-bolt through links out of the way, yet still allow for the “Tangle Free” feature to operate with the rest. Test this feature to assure your pet or animal can rotate all the tether weight. Simply good healthy exercise for your pet. The Stayk and Pro Stayk should meet all your needs.
